There are some moments in your life where you’ll get bombarded with advice. It usually accompanies big life events like starting a new job or becoming a parent. During those times I’ve found that it’s best to consider carefully which advice you choose to take. I remember early in my career being advised to take a lowball job offer because I ‘wasn’t likely to get any better’. I remember being told to give up on the idea of a ‘dream job’, just be glad you have something steady. Many times I’ve been overwhelmed by well meaning but ultimately bad advice. I’m glad I didn’t listen. So be careful which advice you take (except this of course).
